XIII Lamberto Brunelli Prize – National Piano Competition


As per tradition, the National Piano Competition Premio Lamberto Brunelli returns, organized by the Settimane Musicali at the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, a concert series with the artistic direction of Sonig Tchakerian.

The candidate who obtains the highest score will obtain a scholarship of 1,500 euros made available by the Brunelli family.
The 2024 edition of Musical Weeks at the Olympic Theater of Vicenza starts again with the XIII Lamberto Brunelli Prize, a national piano competition that the Festival has been organizing with the Brunelli family since 2011 and in co-production with the Arrigo Pedrollo Conservatory of Vicenza. Established in 2011 and named after the figure of Lamberto Brunelli, a member and supporter of the Festival who passed away in 2010, every year the Award attracts young pianists from all over Italy attracted by the great opportunity represented by the competition which combines artistic and professional growth.

The piano competition has a jury made up of illustrious musicians: Andrea Lucchesini, President, Mariangela Vacatello, Claudio Ambrosini, Stefano Lorenzetti is Sonig Tchakerian and will take place in two stages: Friday 12 April the preliminary round is scheduled at the Teatro San Marco with a recital for solo piano; Sunday 14 April the final with a concert for piano and orchestra with theRegional Orchestra Filarmonia Veneta in the historic and enchanting setting of the Olympic Theatre.

“Due to this consolidated tradition and the extraordinary level of the pianists who won the Prize, it seemed necessary to me to give this event a new identity, making it unique in the Italian national panorama and allowing the public to become protagonists in the organization of such a prestigious prize - explains Sonig Tchakerian member of the Prize jury and artistic director of Music Weeks Festival at the Olimpico– There will be two rehearsals this year too: a preliminary and a final with orchestra, the first at San Marco Theatre and the final in the enchanting setting of Olympic Theater of Vicenza".

For two years, confirming the Festival's attention to contemporary music and young people, there will be an obligatory performance in the preliminary round of the Competition of the piece by Carmen Fizzarotti - Listen to the echothe 6 things we've forgotten. The composition was commissioned by the Festival as part of the Higher education course in composition at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome.  On the occasion of the Award, it will be performed for the first time by the pianists during the preliminary round on April 12th at the Teatro San Marco.

A launching bridge between study paths and professional careers, the Lamberto Brunelli Prize is created in co-production with the Arrigo Pedrollo Conservatory of Vicenza and will allow the winner to perform as part of the Youth Project of the Musical Weeks at the Teatro Olimpico, as well as in important concert associations such as Amici della Musica di Firenze, Amici della Musica di Padova, Asolo Musica and the Fondazione Accademia di Musica di Pinerolo.

The Settimane Musicali at the Teatro Olimpico make use of the collaboration of institutional bodies such as the MIC-Ministry of Culture, the Culture Department of the Municipality of Vicenza in addition to Patronage of the Veneto Region.

This year too Musical Weeks at the Olympic Theater confirm the plural vocation of the Festival and the multiple collaborations with institutional and associative realities. Profitable collaborations on an artistic level are underway with the Arrigo Pedrollo Conservatory of Vicenza, in particular for the co-production of the national piano competition named after the figure of Lamberto Brunelli; with them Friends of Music of Florence, the Friends of Music of Padua, there  Pinerolo Music Academy Foundation and with Asolo Musica for the inclusion of the winner of the Brunelli Prize in their artistic programming; With the'National Academy of Santa Cecilia for a concert dedicated in turn to the best student of the violin, cello and piano courses; with the Pinerolo Music Academy Foundation  for the winners of the ICM and with various territorial entities including the Don Giuseppe Fogazzaro High School, the Civic Museums is Leoni Montanari Palace.

The history of the award: Eng. Lamberto Brunelli, who lived in Bassano in the first years of his life but moved to Vicenza for his entrepreneurial activity, has always dedicated much of his time to social and philanthropic activities, engaging in the world of politics, sport and volunteering.

Always passionate about classical and operatic music, he has supported the Settimane Musicali at the Teatro Olimpico over the years with extraordinary esteem and friendship.

The Brunelli prize was established in 2011 by the Settimane Musicali al Teatro Olimpico and by the Brunelli family, with the intention of giving continuity to the engineer's passion. Brunelli in supporting classical music in his city, with particular attention paid to young talents.
