A Belcanto specialist, Vittorio Prato quickly established himself on the opera scene, with a career that brought him to the most prestigious international stages.

Specialist in the bel canto repertoire, Vittorio Prato he has established himself internationally as one of the most interesting baritones of his generation. Graduated in piano and harpsichord, he studied singing with Ivo Vinco and Luciano Pavarotti, then with Dmitry Vdovin and Sherman Lowe.


His prestigious career led him in a short time to perform on the main international stages: Staatsoper of Berlin, Liceu of Barcelona, Opéra de Lyon, Ncpa of Beijing, Grand Théatre de Genève, Théatre du Capitole of Toulouse, Théatre des Champs-Elysées and Opéra Comique in Paris, La Monnaie in Brussels, Theater an der Wien, Opéra in Lausanne, Opera in Monte Carlo, Staatsoper in Hamburg, Barbican in London, Grand Théâtre in Bordeaux, Metropolitan Theater in Tokyo, Opéra Royal de Wallonie in Liège, Palau de les Arts in Valencia, Teatro Municipal in Santiago de Chile, Theater Basel, Opera in Rome, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Regio in Turin, Comunale in Bologna, Petruzzelli in Bari, Verdi in Trieste. Festivals include those in Pesaro, Wexford, Montpellier, Martina Franca, Beaune, Bad Wildbad and Bad Kissingen.


He has worked, among others, with conductors of the caliber of: William Christie, Alan Curtis, Ottavio Dantone, Diego Fasolis, Gianluigi Gelmetti, Christopher Hogwood, Francesco Lanzillotta, Fabio Luisi, Andrea Marcon, Michele Mariotti, Riccardo Muti, Daniel Oren, Donato Renzetti, Christophe Rousset, and with directors such as: Yannis Kokkos, Antonio Latella, Cesare Lievi, Pier Luigi Pizzi, Stefano Vizioli.
