Turin Musical Union
Founded in 1946 by Giorgio Balmas, the Unione Musicale di Torino is a leading non-profit organization in the organization of classical music concerts. In seventy years, thousands of events have been organized in all repertoires, with particular attention to the chamber sector.

The artistic direction of the Unione Musicale di Torino is currently entrusted to Antonio Valentino, who signs his first season (2021-22) succeeding Giorgio Pugliaro.
The concerts offered are traditionally declined in different series:
Wednesdays at the Conservatory (evening concerts)
On Sunday (afternoon series)
The other sound (cycle dedicated to the pre-classical repertoire)
Next generation (series that enhances the new generations of musicians, with particular attention to rarely heard repertoires

With the original name of 'Unione Musicale Studentesca', the Turin concert association was founded in 1946 by Giorgio Balmas (Turin 1927 - 2006) together with some schoolmates from the city's high schools. Thus began an important path of renewal of Turin's musical life, also stimulated by the fervent climate of the immediate post-war period.

Various events of the forties, fifties and sixties also institutionally consolidated the Association, now simply Unione Musicale, led by Balmas until 1975, when he was elected to the city council and then appointed councilor for culture.

In the meantime, the Unione Musicale had established itself in the musical life of Turin, gradually absorbing the activities of all the other musical institutions dedicated to chamber music.

The greatest interpreters in the world performed there: in alphabetical order from Ashkenazy to Zimerman, dozens of soloists, ensembles and orchestras who gave life to singularly unforgettable events and great thematic cycles.

In addition to collaborating regularly with Turin musical institutions (Teatro Regio, Rai National Symphony Orchestra, MITO Settembre Musica Festival), the Unione Musicale has overseen (from 1984 to 2012) the coordination of the Piemonte in Musica circuit, a dedicated initiative of the Piedmont Region the decentralization of classical music concerts on the regional territory.

Since 2010, the Unione Musicale has combined the traditional seasons with the creation of shows and concerts entirely dedicated to young people and schools in the dedicated location of the Vittoria Theater in Turin. In recent seasons, the attention paid to innovative and experimental activities has been increasing, which includes specific formulas and programs for the benefit of the new public, children and their families.

The Unione Musicale is a founding member of the Sistema Musica Association, which brings together the main Turin musical institutions.
