Open with a great Christmas classic Ballet season 2023/24 of the Rome Opera House: The Nutcracker of Tchaikovsky, presented in a new production signed by the Canadian choreographer Paul Chalmer.

The production, with costumes by Gianluca Falaschi, the scenes of Andrea Miglio and the lights of Valerio Tiberi, debuts Thursday December 21, 2023 (8pm) and will be on stage with 12 performances until December 31st, including Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.

Guest artists in the roles of protagonists, Maia Makhateli is Victor Caixeta, who return to dance together on the Costanzi stage afterwards La Bayadère last February; the stars of the alternate with them Capitoline Opera Ballet directed by Eleonora Abbagnato: Rebecca Bianchi, Susanna Save, Federica Maine is Michele Satriano, Claudio Cocino, Giacomo Castellana, Mattia Dove grey.

On the podium, at the helm of theOrchestra of the Rome Opera House, the specialist returns Nir Kabaretti.

First performed in December 1892 to the Mariinsky Theatre of St. Petersburg, The nutcracker of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky is inspired by the famous tale of ETA Hoffmann, Nutcracker and the Mouse King, and tells of Clara's dream during a Christmas Eve in the early 19th century.

In a dreamlike dimension, characters such as the Nutcracker Prince, the Sugar Plum Fairy, little Clara, the mysterious Drosselmeyer, together with toys, mice and soldiers, give life to an enchanting adventure. Among the most iconic songs of this very famous Christmas ballet, the Waltz some flowers, the Waltz of the Snowflakes and the Dance of the Confetto Fairy.
