Trasimeno Music Festival 2024 | 19th edition
Founded and directed by the famous Canadian pianist Angela Hewitt, the Festival offers a range of concerts in Magione and in the most evocative places of Perugia, with renowned artists and young talents

The. returns to the green heart of Italy Trasimeno Music Festival, a refined and evocative international music festival founded and directed by Angela Hewitt, Canadian pianist famous throughout the world.

From 27 June to 3 July 2024 will take place the 19th edition of the Festival, which will bring its concerts to some of the most evocative places in Umbria, from the banks of Trasimeno to Perugia. Classical stars and talented young musicians will take turns on stages set up in exceptional locations such as the majestic Castle of the Knights of Malta in Magione, dating back to the mid-1100s, the picturesque small square in the village of San Savino overlooking the lake, theOratory of San Francesco dei Nobili, the Basilica of Saint Peter el'Auditorium San Francesco al Prato to Perugia.

Numerous artists who together with Angela Hewitt will give life to the rich billboard: the doyen of early music Jordi Savall, Hakan Gügör, L'Perugia Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra of the JS Bach-Stiftung, St. Gallen with Rudolf Lutz, I'm worth it Quartet and many others.

The program

As per tradition, the Festival will be preceded by free concert-preview scheduled for June 26 in Small square in the village of San Savino, where they will perform Angela Hewitt at the piano, the mezzo-soprano Anna Bonitatibus is Petrit Çeku on guitar; the concert is dedicated to the memory of Guglielmo Beneduce, Operational Director of the event.

Thursday June 27 for the opening concert of the Trasimeno Music Festival 2024 we move to Perugia, at the San Francesco al Prato Auditorium, where emerging pianists Jaeden Izik-Dzurko, Clear Biagioli is Jonathan Ferrucci they will reach Angela Hewitt is the Chamber Orchestra of Perugia: Bach's Concerto for four keyboard instruments and strings in A minor BWV 1065 is on the programme, as well as pieces by Mozart, Brahms and Ravel.

It continues on June 28 to the Castle of the Knights of Malta in Magione, where he will be the protagonist Jordi Savall, which together with Hakan Gügöking Dimitri Psonis in an evocative musical journey from East to West he will establish an engaging 'Dialogue of Souls'.

In the same place, the June 29  the pianist and artistic director Angela Hewitt, will perform in a trio with Esther Hoppe is Christian Poltera, featuring pages by Bach, Brahms and Shostakovich.

Remaining at the Castle, the June 30th it is the turn of the I go Quartet who will perform music by Purcell and Szymanowski, as well as the Castelnuovo-Tedesco Quintet with the guitarist Petrit Çeku;

the July 1st in the splendid St. Peter's Basilica in Perugia, L'Orchestra of the JS Bach-Stiftung St. Gallen led by the Swiss director Rudolf Lutz, will explore some Bach Cantatas together with the baritone solo voices Peter Harvey and the soprano Miriam Feuersinger.

Special Guest of the Trasimeno Festival 2024 is Sir Simon Schama, British art historian and critic, one of the greatest intellectuals of our time, who the 2nd of July at the Sala de' Notari (Palazzo dei Priori, Perugia) he will dialogue with the Canadian journalist Eric Friesen on current issues and the influence that art and artists have had on events.

The 19th edition of Trasimeno Music Festival will end on Wednesday July 3, 2024  at the Oratory of San Francesco dei Nobili in Perugia: a double recital of Angela Hewitt, which will feature music by Bach, Beethoven and Brahms, and a gala dinner in the Oratory gardens.
