Regio Theater of Parma
The Teatro Regio (formerly "Nuovo Ducale Teatro") is the opera house of the city of Parma and is considered one of the most important traditional theaters and one of the places of excellence of the great Italian operatic tradition.

Originally the New Ducal Theater, the Teatro Regio in Parma was built by the will of the Duchess Maria Luigia of Habsburg-Lorraine, Napoleon's wife, sent to govern the Duchy of Parma, Piacenza and Guastalla after the Congress of Vienna. Work began in 1821 on a project by the court architect Nicola Bettoli, the Theater was inaugurated on 16 May 1829 with Zaira, composed for this occasion by Vincenzo Bellini on a libretto by Felice Romani.

The Foundation was established in January 2002. Recognized as a traditional theater, it promotes the diffusion of the art and culture of entertainment, the professional training of artistic and technical personnel and musical education, in order to preserve and enhance the priceless legacy historical-cultural linked, in particular, to the Opera, dance and music in general. Founding partner is the Municipality of Parma. Meritorious members are the Cariparma Foundation and the Monte di Parma Foundation.
