Stauffer Summer Music Festival 2022 Cremona
A new concert review is born, the 1st edition kicks off with 6 free concerts offered by the Stauffer Foundation
TO Cremona, home of violin making, was born Stauffer Summer Music Festival, a new summer concert review dedicated to string instruments. Promoted by Stauffer Foundation, the new festival, completely free, is a project of excellence designed to celebrate the different musical cultures of the world by bringing together great international artists and the best young talents.

The first edition of the Stauffer Summer Music Festival It will take place from 8 to 16 July 2022 in Garden of Palazzo Stauffer, seat of the Stauffer Center for Strings, dedicated to high musical education. An audience of 100 seats surrounded by greenery awaits evening by evening for a wide and varied audience, from Cremonese to international visitors, from young people to enthusiasts, with the formula Free admission.

Six concerts are proposed (all at 9 pm), ranging by genres, eras and geographical areas, from the great classical repertoire to the most unpublished contemporary languages, from western folklore music to the fascinating one of the Near East.

"We propose a different idea of a music festival, with the aim of offering citizens a whole stimulating cultural experience in a unique context" he declares Paolo Petrocelli, General Director of the Stauffer Academy and creator of the Festival. "We boldly present a musical program capable of going beyond all cultural and linguistic boundaries, to bring together great international musicians, young talents from all over the world and an audience as heterogeneous and transversal as possible".

The protagonists of the Festival will be some great international artists together with the best students and ex-students of the Stauffer Academy, an international point of reference for the advanced training of string instrumentalists.

They will take the stage  Aleksey Igudesman, multifaceted violinist, alongside Roby Lakatos, legend of gypsy violinism, the violinist Giuseppe Gibboni  - winner of the Paganini 2021 Competition - and the cellist Miriam Prandi, two leading alumni of the Stauffer Academy today internationally renowned musicians, i soloists from the Intercontemporain Ensemble - one of the most relevant contemporary music groups in the world - and the artists of the Morgenland Festival Osnabrück, a leading event for the promotion of cultured oriental music.

The Stauffer Summer Music Festival inaugurates Friday July 8 with the concert Out of the Ropes, protagonists i soloists of the Intercontemporain Ensemble - specialized in the repertoire of the 21st century - Diego Tosi (violin) e John Stulz (purple), flanked by the best young Stauffer students. A precious opportunity to discover the experimental languages of contemporary cultured music.

Tuesday July 12, it's the turn of the Virtuous: on stage two of the most successful alumni of the Stauffer Academy, the violinist Giuseppe Gibboni, pupil of Maestro Salvatore Accardo and winner of the Paganini 2021 Competition and the cellist Miriam Prandi, pupil of the masters Rocco Filippini and Antonio Meneses, already soloist with some of the most important orchestras in the world.

Wednesday July 13, East meets West - Musical encounters between East and West, it is the first of three concerts realized in collaboration with the Morgenland Festival of Osnabrück, one of the most important oriental music reviews, which during the days of the festival is the protagonist of a Campus.

Thursday July 14, Kayhan Kalhor & Friends - The legend of Persian music: Kayhan Kalhor, nominated for three Grammy Awards and winner in 2017, is an outstanding Kurdish-Iranian virtuoso of the kamānche (spiked violin). Through his many artistic collaborations (one for all, with cellist Yo-Yo Ma) he has made Persian music popular all over the world.

Friday 15th of July Strings Around the World proposes a tour of the musical world that sees protagonists  Aleksey Igudesman, violin star out of the ordinary and the gypsy violinist Roby Lakatos flanked by Gábor Ladányi on the guitar, e Vilmos Csikos on the double bass, with them the students of the Stauffer Academy.

Saturday July 16, Music beyond borders, the final concert of the first Stauffer Summer Music Festival, which brings together all the artists of the Morgenland Campus and their students in a real musical party.
