Symphony Orchestra of Milan and Milano Musica Presents

The Milan Auditorium will host an extraordinary evening of classical and contemporary music. The concerts on 16 and 17 May 2024 will see the world premiere of “Kinderszenen” for piano, electronics and orchestra by Marco Momi.

Momi's new composition, jointly commissioned by Françoise and Jean-Philippe Billarant, Milano Musica and La Biennale di Venezia, and created with the technological support of IRCAM, is a contemporary tribute to Robert Schumann's famous “Kinderszenen”. The work will be performed by the Milan Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Michele Gamba, with Mariangela Vacatello on piano and the electronic support of Serge Lemouton and Jérémie Henrot of IRCAM.

The evening will begin with Momi's opera and continue with the “Symphony n. 1 in B flat major, Op. 38 'Spring'” by Schumann, one of the most luminous and joyful works of the German composer, which reflects his own joy of life and enthusiasm for the new season.

Before the concert on May 16, a public meeting entitled “The world of Schumann, the worlds of Momi” will be held, during which the composer will discuss his influences and the creative process behind his latest work.
