“ Concert Season 2023 -24 ”
The 13, 14 and 15 June toAuditorium Music Park of Rome grand finale for the 2023-24 symphony season ofAcademy of Santa Cecilia  The legend of the piano takes to the stage Martha Argerich, who after four years returns to perform with the Roman Foundation playing the Second Concert for piano and orchestra by Ludwig van Beethoven.

On the podium, making his debut at Santa Cecilia, the young Israeli conductor Lahav Shani (Tel Aviv, 1989), protégé of Zubin Metha and Daniel Barenboim, since 2020 Music Director of the Israel Philharmonic and recently appointed Principal Conductor of the Münchner Philharmoniker. The long-awaited last symphonic event of the season ends with one of the most famous compositions of the entire classical repertoire, the Ninth Symphony "Choral" from Beethoven, with a quartet of voices made up of the Israeli soprano Chen Reiss, from the mezzo-soprano Okka von der Damerau, by the South African tenor Siyabonga Maqungo and from below Giorgi Manoshvili; the choir is instructed by Andrea Secchi.

The 'Not at' of Beethoven has recently turned two hundred years old: the first performance took place on 7 May 1824 in Vienna at the Teatro di Porta Carinzia, located where today the well-known Hotel Sacher stands. With this famous piece Beethoven realized his dream of setting to music Friedrich Schiller's Ode to Joy, published in 1786, which exalts the values of freedom and brotherhood. The composer, now completely deaf, did not immediately realize the enthusiasm in the room after the premiere, until he was turned towards the audience by mezzo-soprano Caroline Unger and saw the moved spectators waving their white handkerchiefs.
