New Consonance Association Presents

“ 60th New Consonance Festival ”
It opens on Friday November 10, 2023 to the Music Park of Rome the 60th New Consonance Festival: the opening concert is entrusted toEnsemble Intercontemporain, one of the most prestigious French groups and a point of reference on the contemporary music scene.

Founded and directed for many years by Pierre Boulez, the Parisian Ensemble arrives in Rome with a sextet of performers (Diego Tosi violin, Renaud Déjardin cello, Sophie Cherrier flute, Martin Adamek clarinet, Aurélien Gignoux percussion, Dimitri Vassilakis piano) who in variable formations will give life to an entirely acoustic concert, with an original title France – Italy 3 to 3. The reference is to the underlying theme of the interesting programme, which runs through three generations of French and Italian composers, respectively Allain Gaussin, Pierre Boulez, Bastien David – the youngest, born in 1990, with the world premiere of Riff (augmented) for cello and prepared drums –, e Salvatore Sciarrino, Franco Donatoni is Vito Palumbo (1972) of which the novelty will be heard Seeds of Light for ensemble.

A concert that is in some ways "classic", entirely oriented towards complex contemporary musical writing, in an intriguing counterpoint between France and Italy.

Leading the Ensemble, Nicolò Umberto Foron, a 25-year-old Italian-German conductor, pianist and composer who was deputy director of Intercontemporain for two years before joining the London Symphony Orchestra for the 2023/24 season.
