Other information of interest

Daniel Lo is one of Hong Kong's most active composers, known for his versatility in a wide range of genres, ranging from orchestral compositions to sound installations. “Asterismal Dance”, commissioned by HK Phil to celebrate its 50th anniversary, is a fantastical joke characterized by a lively and energetic rhythm, inspired by the observation of the starry sky. The composition departs from the formal habits of classical music, deploying a series of distinct and non-linear musical materials, although all derived from a basic motif. These sound fragments pass through different instrumental sections of the orchestra, similar to stars scattered across the sky, gradually evoking different shapes, varying, expanding and overlapping in many ways, intertwining in a dance as complex as the galaxy.
