The Snow Maiden, Snegurochka, she is a beloved one figure of Russian folklore, a fairy-tale creature that appears in numerous fairy tales and popular legends, to which plays, musical works and films have been dedicated.

Among them, one of the most successful works is the theatrical piece for which Tchaikovsky composed the incidental music (1873), Sneguročkaof the playwright Alexander Nikolaevich Ostrovsky (1823 -1886) considered the founder of modern Russian theater. Defined by the same author as a 'spring fairy tale', Sneguročka reworks the story of the beautiful daughter of Winter and Spring, resulting in a finale that is both dramatic and poetic.
