"Review The sound in beauty"
TO Parma the Epiphany concert will be held on January 6, 2022 (4 pm) in the majestic Church of San Francesco del Prato, only recently returned to the cult and to the city after an important restoration.

The protagonists of the event will be theI Musici di Parma Orchestra and the Chorus of the Teatro Regio directed by M ° Martino Faggiani, flanked by the young students of the Verdian Academy of the Regio as soloists.

The program focuses on some of the most admirable sacred pieces of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) and Franz Schubert (1797-1828): at the opening, the intense ones Mozart pages of the Te Deum KV 141 (for choir and orchestra) and del Laudate Dominum for soprano choir and orchestra, followed by the performance of the Mass in G major D167 of Franz Schubert. The famous motetto KV 618 will close the concert Ave Verum Corpus of Mozart.

The concert, supported by Municipality of Parma, is part of the musical review "The sound in beauty", curated by I Musici di Parma to accompany the restructuring of the church of San Francesco del Prato.

The Church of San Francesco del Prato, which is located a few steps from the Duomo, has a truly unique history: founded by the Franciscans who arrived in Parma in the early 1200s, construction was probably started in 1240, with subsequent extensions and the addition of the bell tower in the early 1500s.

In 1769 it was suppressed with a Bourbon edict, subsequently returned to the community of friars, again suppressed by Napoleon a few decades later. In 1804 the French military troops occupied the complex, driving out the Franciscan friars, and transformed the church into a prison. And so it remained incredibly fimo to 1992. The restoration site was opened in 2018, and on 3 October 2021 San Francesco del Prato with a solemn ceremony was rededicated and reopened to the public. However, the side chapels still remain to be recovered and numerous frescoes found under the plaster are to be restored, works to which it is possible to contribute with a donation (info on the website
