At his side, the very young violinist Vikram Francis Sedona.

In the 18th concert of the OSNR Season 2023 – 24 atRai Arturo Toscanini Auditorium in Turin, Ottavio Dantone presents a musical program dedicated to classicism, opting for an original layout which, before closing on the notes of Beethoven, highlights two great Italian composers whose important anniversaries occur this year, Gaspare Spontini on the 250th anniversary of his birth e Giovanni Battista Viotti on the 200th anniversary of his disappearance.

It starts with theOverture from The Vestal Virgin, la tragédie lyrique of Gaspare SpontinIt was performed for the first time in Paris on 15 December 1807 with great success, so much so as to make its author the official interpreter of Napoleonic-imperial grandeur.

To follow the Concert no. 22 in A minor for violin and orchestra of Giovanni Battista Viotti, perhaps the most popular of the 29 violin concertos by the composer who lived between the 18th and 19th centuries and is considered one of the highest virtuosos of the stringed instrument. He is called to interpret it Vikram Francesco Sedona, a very young violinist who has won multiple awards in the most prestigious international competitions. Born in Treviso, Sedona has played in important international festivals such as the “Festival de Radio France Occitanie Montpellier” and the “Festival George Enescu” in Bucharest, and in concert halls such as the Romanian Athenaeum and the Radio Hall of Bucharest, the NOSPR of Katowice, Le Corum of Montpellier or the Sale Apollinee of the Gran Teatro la Fenice. In April 2022 he played at the Teatro Vittorio Emanuele II in Messina with the Orchestra of the Accademia Teatro alla Scala in the presence of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella.

The evening ends there Symphony no. 8 in F major, op. 93 of Ludwig van Beethoven, composed between 1811 and 1812 and performed for the first time in the Ridotto Hall of the Burgtheater in Vienna on 27 February 1814, with Beethoven himself conducting.
