Teatro alla Scala Foundation Presents

“ Season 2023/24 | Extraordinary concerts”
Two of the brightest stars of the international opera firmament are expected at the Milan staircase Monday April 29 2024: the soprano Lisette Oropesa and the tenor Benjamin Bernheim, protagonists of an extraordinary concert directed by Marco Armiliato with the Orchestra ofTeatro alla Scala Academy.

The recital, not to be missed and worth a trip, arrives at the Piermarini a few days after the Parisian success, and will then continue to Baden Baden. Oropesa and Bernheim, both known for their exceptional voices, extraordinary musicality and expressive interpretation, form an ideal duo for their tonal mix and artistic personality. Together they will offer an anthology of arias and duets, ranging from Italian Belcanto to French Grand Opéra, a program that combines the two repertoires with taste and imagination, including various cornerstones of musical theatre.

The first part is entirely Italian, with greens (You of my Carlo at the breast, from I masnadieri and the duet Signor nor prince… Addio, addio from Rigoletto, as well as the Symphony from La forza del Destino), Donizetti (the duet Dear Elisir, you are mine!) e Puccini (Recondita armonia da Tosca), while the second part deals with the repertoire from beyond the Alps, with well-known pieces by Gounod (Overture and duet Ange adorable from Roméo et Juliette, the famous Air des bijoux from Faust), and others less performed than Bizet (Je crois entendre encore, from Les Pêcheurs de perles), Meyerbeer (Robert, toi que j'aime, from Robert le Diable) e Massenet (Ah! Fuyez, douce image from Manon): a rich and evocative layout that will allow the public to appreciate the artistic skills of two of the most popular singers on the current opera scene.

Lisette Oropesa, who triumphed last spring at La Scala in Lucia di Lammermoor, and just 10 days ago at the Rome Opera debuting the role in La sonnambula, will return to the Piermarini for a recital the next May 19; Benjamin Bernheim for his part, he is expected as the protagonist of Werther by Massenet which will be on stage at La Scala from June 10th to July 2nd.
