Feminine sensibility between piano and conductor's podium

Maria Luisa Macellaro La Franca is an Italian conductor, composer and pianist currently living in Bordeaux, France. Here he founded the festival "Autour du piano et de la harpe". Maria Luisa was chosen by director Milos Twilight for a musical documentary series on French romance for Netflix as archivist artist and main protagonist.

Acclaimed by international critics, she is considered one of the most interesting conductors of the new generation.

In addition to directing Maria Luisa Macellaro La Franca is an established pianist, her repertoire ranges from ancient music on period instruments to modern music. He began studying piano, composition and conducting at the V. Bellini Conservatory in Palermo where he graduated in 2000 with honors. He then perfected himself at the prestigious Zurich Musik Hochschule in Zurich where he also graduated in jazz composition, chamber music and early music, with full marks. Winner of countless prizes in national and international piano competitions (Osimo Coppa Pianisti d'Italia 1996, IBLA Grand Prize 2000, Elsy Mayer Stiftung 2003) she began a career at a very young age that led her to perform in various countries and theaters such as the Teatro Politeama in Palermo, the Opera of Bordeaux, Theater of the MAM museum and the Italian Cultural Institute of Rio de Janeiro, Synagogue of Berlin and Hall of the Superior Conservatory of Düsserldorf, Auditorium de Los Andes Mendoza, Hall of the Banco Hipotecario Lujan in Argentina, Grosser Saal Zurich , Ligerz Theater, Boccadoro Theater in Lugano , Collado Villalba Cultural Center in Madrid, Grand Theater Osaka in Japan, Presidential Hall in Ankara (Turkey).

As a composer Maria Luisa has been rewarded with several awards: for the "Cantate pour la mort de Falcone et Borsellino" she received the "Envie d'Agire" award as best musical creation in 2009, LABEL IDDAC 2009 as best French theatrical work 2009 and she was then named Ambassador of Culture in the world 2012 for Italy. For the composition "Emes Symphonie" she received the Prix du Conseil General de Gironde, Ambassador Human Rights IHRO2013, Ambassador for the women rights in Music 2014, International Human Rights Commission IGO as Goodwill Ambassador for Peace.

She is regularly invited both as pianist and as conductor : Rio International Harp Festival (Brazil), Swiss Harp Festival, Festival de Arles, Semaine Musical de Bayonne, Estivales en Charente Maritime, Cap Ferrat Music Festival (France), Armonie d 'Autumn (Italy), French Festival Theater, IBM International Berlin (Germany).
