Teatro dell'Opera di Roma Foundation Presenta

To the Opera House of Rome from'8 to 17 February will be on the bill Luisa Miller, tragic melodrama in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi. The booklet of Salvatore Cammarano, here on the third collaboration with the composer later Alzira is The battle of Legnano, is taken as is known from the 'bourgeois tragedy' Kabale und Liebe (Intrigue and love) by Friedrich Schiller, with Shakespeare the author particularly dear to Verdi. Luisa Miller, considered an important stage in the composer's stylistic evolution, was staged for the first time on 8 December 1849 at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, where it was successfully received.

At the Costanzi Theater, Verdi's opera will finally arrive in stage form, with Michele Mariotti again on the podium after the streaming broadcast last May, when he had broadcast it for the first time.

"Luisa Miller - said Maestro Mariotti - - is a work that has always attracted my interpretative sensitivity for its evident bel canto figure, its tonal varieties that determine deep fluctuations in mood, combined with the always acute psychological exploration with which Verdi sculpts each character. These elements make the score rich in a beauty that deserves to be listened to and in some way rediscovered every time ".

The February appointment will also be Mariotti's first conducting in Rome after the four-year appointment as Musical Director of the Capitoline Opera from November 2022.

The direction of the show is entrusted to Damiano Michieletto, the scenes are from Paul Fantin, the costumes of Carla Teti, the lights of Alessandro Carletti. The cast consists of Michele Pertusi, Earl of Walter, Antonio Poli Rodolfo, Daniela Barcelona Federica, Marco Spotti Wurm, Amartuvshin Enkhbat, young baritone mòngolo on his debut as Miller, Roberta Mantegna who returns in season as Luisa. The staging is made in collaboration with the Zurich Opera.
