July Musicale Trapanese 2022, 74th Season
Tosca, Trovatore, Elisir the three works in the program, in addition to the symphonic concerts and the preview for children - the Season is dedicated to the soprano Renata Tebaldi on the 100th anniversary of his birth
Starts on 1 July to end on 27 August 2022 there 74. Season of Works and Concerts of the July Musicale Trapanese, this year with the special dedication to the great soprano Renata Tebaldi (Pesaro 1922 - San Marino 2004) on the centenary of his birth.

Three works - Tosca, Trovatore, Elisir - and as many i symphonic concerts on the bill for July Musicale Trapanese 2022, which will take place as usual in Open-air theater 'Giuseppe Di Stefano " set up in the gardens of Villa Margherita. A preview show dedicated to children (The Kattivissimi, from 12 June to 10 July) and a version pocket opera of the Barber of Seville, mainly aimed at tourists and also conceived as a circuit production.

The Summer season 2022 marks the beginning of a new phase in the programming of the July Musicale Trapanese, which is now projected on a three-year path, characterized by conducting threads that intertwine in the sign of artistic continuity and the relationship with the territory. This is thanks to the commitment of the Artistic Director Matteo Beltrami and by the Chief Executive Officer Matteo Giurlanda (wanted by the Mayor of Trapani Giacomo Tranchida), who in tandem faced a long series of difficulties in a very short time, hitting the goal of securing the accounts of the institution and relaunching its artistic profile.

The July Musicale Trapanese 2022 will start with the Inaugural concert of the July 1st directed by Matteo Beltrami driving theSicilian Symphony Orchestra, soloists the soprano Alessandra Di Giorgio and the tenor Azer Zada.

In the poster, Beethoven (Symphony n. 7) And greens (Symphony is romances from The force of Destiny), a program that starts the complete performance of the 9 Beethovenian Symphonies over the next three years, and at the same time recalls Renata Tebaldi, dedicatee of the Season, and Giuseppe Di Stefano, owner of the theater, who were protagonists in 1955 at La Scala of a memorable edition of The force of Destiny.

The first date with opera will be Tosca of Giacomo Puccini, staged on 15 and 17 July with a new staging of the Musical July made in co-production with the Coccia Theater of Novara. The director signs it Renato Bonajuto, while the scenes are of Danilo Coppola. On the podium of theOrchestra of the July Musicale Trapanese the musical director will rise Manuela Ranno, leading a cast headed by Charlotte-Anne Shipley in the title role, Azer Zada, Mario Cavaradossi and Maximum Easels, Baron Scarpia. For the occasion, the space of Villa Margherita will be transformed into an open-air museum hosting the neo-Caravaggesque works of Giovanni Gasparro. The paintings by the Apulian artist will recall the atmosphere of the churches and palaces of papal Rome, the setting for the story.

The July 19, 30th anniversary of the Via D'Amelio massacre in which the judge died Paolo Borsellino and his escort, the Musical July will remember the victims of the attack with the second of the Symphonic Concerts on the bill. Second opera title, The Troubadour of Giuseppe Verdi, staged on 4 and 6 August. A new staging with which the Luglio Musicale marks its own record of theaters involved in a co-production: in fact, six institutions have joined the artistic project and are the Municipal Theater of Piacenza, the Municipal of Modena, the Coccia of Novara, the Teatro dell'Opera Giocosa in Savona, the Giglio in Lucca and the Goldoni in Livorno. The direction is entrusted to Stefano Monti, specialist in site-specific arrangements, who will exploit the potential of the garden of Villa Margherita, and who for July had already signed Madama Butterfly last season. In the vocal cast Simone Piazzola, the Count of Luna, Chiara Isotton, Leonora, and Sofia Janelidze, Azucena. To lead theOrchestra and the Chorus of the Luglio Musicale the director David Crescenzi.

Central appointment of the celebrations for the 100 years since the birth of Renata Tebaldi it will be there Gala concert of8 August, an initiative which is part of the calendar promoted by Tebaldi Foundation.

"Tebaldi100 is certainly the tool to feed the mythicization of the character Renata Tebaldi, but also the circumstance to use art as a decisive tool against oblivion - he declares Giovanna Colombo, president of the Renata Tebaldi Foundation Museum of Busseto - The absolute world prestige that from 1944 to 1976 was attributed to Renata Tebaldi transformed her into an Italian symbolic figure on a par with the greatest artists in the history of culture of all times ".

For the occasion the soprano Marta Mari will be joined by winners of the XVII "Giuseppe Di Stefano" International Opera Competition. With the'Orchestra of the July Music directed by Aldo Sisillo one will be proposed selection of opera pieces to retrace the artistic career of one of the most loved opera divas ever.

The last work on the bill will be The elixir of love of Gaetano Donizetti, staged in the days 25 and 27 August at the end of the 74th season of the July Musicale Trapanese. Also this a new production, will see the debut in the role of Adina di Giulia Mazzola, winner of the Di Stefano 2021 Competition. The Competition was relaunched just last year by the will of the artistic director Matteo Beltrami after a long period of hiatus. The tenor will go up on the stage of Villa Margherita with Giulia Mazzola Francis Beaver, Nemorino, Salvatore Grigoli, Belcore, Enrico Maria Marabelli, Dulcamara, and Ksenia Bomarsi, Giannetta. Driving theOrchestra of the Musical July, the wand of the Ukrainian Sasha Yankevych, runner-up in the 2021 Arturo Toscanini International Conducting Competition. He will sign the direction Teresa Gargano, Sicilian artist who distinguished himself last year for the appreciated staging of La traviata in 1H.

And it is precisely the format of the 'pocket opera', news of last season, to return to the Cloister of San Domenico in the days 17 and 19 August, this year with The Barber of Seville in 1H. The show, which offers the salient and most famous parts of the work of Gioachino Rossini, is mainly aimed at tourists, but is also designed for those who want to discover or listen to the masterpieces of opera in a more streamlined version. It also responds to the need of the Luglio Musicale to have an agile production, suitable for circulation throughout the territory of the province of Trapani.

In the cast, Leonora Tess (Rosina), Giuseppe Toia (Figaro), Riccardo Benlodi (Count d'Almaviva), Matteo D'Apolito (Don Bartolo), Marta Di Stefano (Berta) and Christian Barone (Basilio), directed by Teresa Gargano, scenes of Monica Andolina. Directs theEnsemble of the July Music Mirco Reina, also author of the orchestral reduction.

In Season Preview then the project will start July Kids, with a show spread to Villa Margherita dedicated to the little ones: for five Sundays, from 12 June to 10 July, the city garden will come alive with The Kattivissimi, chamber opera commissioned by the Luglio Musicale, taken from the children's book by Cristina Bersanelli is Gabriele Clima (Curci Edition). The agile instrumental staff ofJuly Musical Ensemble will enhance the rooms of the villa together with the protagonists, including the soprano Lucia Nicotra and the baritone Savior Grigoli. Music is of Salvatore Passantino, libretto and dramaturgy are by Luigi Di Gangi is Ugo Giacomazzi, even directors.

This format will be proposed every year thanks to a dramaturgy that will change adapting to the continuous historical and social needs of the world.
