Lucca Classica 2022
VIII edition for the Tuscan festival that returns to its spring location
TheVIII edition of the Lucca Classical Music Festival, which this year returns to its spring location: from 23 April to 1 May 2022 nine days will be dedicated to music and culture, with more than 50 events that will animate the most evocative places of the Tuscan city from morning until late evening.

Promoted byLucchese Music Association, the Lucca Classical Festival 2022 will see the presence of prominent names including Mario Brunello, Paolo Fresu is Giuseppe Gibboni. Special guest will be the teacher Riccardo Chailly which will be assigned the Lucca Classica 2022 Award (May 1st, 6.45 pm, Auditorium del Suffragio).

The event opens on Saturday April 23 (9 pm) with a tribute to Pasolini inserted in the inaugural concert in Saint Francis: protagonists will be theOrchestra and Choir of the Boccherini Institute directed by GianPaolo Mazzoli is Sara Matteucci, and the soloists Silvia Chiesa, Valentina Coladonato, Maurizio Baglini and the narrator of Sandro Cappelletto. During the three concerts, the Venetian musician will perform some of the most intense pieces of the German composer, presenting them in the context of a sort of "biblical story" that reveals the deep links of the Sonatas and Partitas with the liturgy and Christian theology.

Among the protagonists of this edition of the Festival there will also be the winner of the Paganini 2021 Prize, the young violinist Giuseppe Gibboni, which will play with theBoccherini Orchestra the April 29 (9 pm) in the Church of San Francesco. Scheduled for the Symphony 2, Under the Trees' Voices of Ezio Bosso, composed in honor of the "forest of violins"Of the Val di Fiemme where the so-called" resonance firs "grow. It is there that luthiers from all over the world, starting with Stradivari, have for centuries selected the woods for the construction of the soundboards of their instruments.

On the occasion of the International jazz day, will be in Lucca Paul Fresu (April 30, 9 pm, Saint Francis) with the project Very High Light, extraordinary musical work freely inspired by the Laudario of Cortona, the oldest example of musical composition on vernacular texts. Fresu proposes a masterful reinterpretation, keeping one foot in tradition and the other in contemporaneity.

To be mentioned again, Marco Rizzi, Danilo Rossi, The Brass of the Sistine Chapel for the Concert of May 1st in piazza San Michele, Amanda Sandrelli is Giampaolo Bandini with a project dedicated to Segovia is D'Annunzio.

In the festival there will also be space for poetry with Franco Arminio, and for prose with Marco Brinzi is The art of escape, pièce inspired by the figure of Glenn Gould, in collaboration with the Teatro del Giglio.

After the great success of last year, the suggestive is also back Silent Wi-Fi Concert at night, which this time will take place in the splendid garden of Pfanner Palace, with Andrea Vizzini at the piano (April 29, 11 pm).

There are numerous appointments dedicated to Giacomo Puccini, inevitable in the city that gave him birth (22 December 1858). Among these, the concert with the String Quartet of the Scala and the pianist Simone Soldati (May 1st, 5.30 pm, Auditorium del Suffragio). The program includes the Gavotte and the Fugue Prima in G major for string quartet, two passages by Giacomo Puccini which will be shown at Lucca Classica after the recent first revival in modern times at the Teatro alla Scala.

The rich program also includes events for children and families, musical itineraries to discover the monumental places of Lucca, contemporary music concerts, meetings with musicians and cultural personalities, concerts by orchestras and school choirs, insights on Pasolini, night concerts.
