'La Toscanini' - Arturo Toscanini Foundation
The Arturo Toscanini Orchestra of Emilia-Romagna, founded in Parma in 1975, is recognized by the State as a Concert-Orchestral Institution in 1977. The Toscanini Foundation, an evolution of the previous Association, was founded in 1994 on the initiative of the Emilia-Romagna Region, of the Municipality and Province of Parma.

Season

The Arturo Toscanini Foundation, musical institution of the Emilia-Romagna Region based in Parma, acts with the support of the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities. It bears the name of the great conductor, honoring his artistic legacy and tradition of executive excellence.

The Foundation is today one of the largest and most dynamic Italian musical institutions: active in the field of symphonic and lyric production, as well as in the professional training sector, it produces on average more than 100 symphonic concerts and 40 opera performances every year.

The Foundation has two different artistic ensembles, active on an annual basis: the Arturo Toscanini Philharmonic, intended for the performance of the great symphonic repertoire with the presence of major international soloists and conductors, and theArturo Toscanini Orchestra of Emilia-Romagna, which acts both in the regional and educational concert activity and in the opera productions.

The shareholder structure of the Foundation sees the participation of some of the most important public bodies in Emilia-Romagna and has been gradually extended to numerous private entities, such as the banking foundations of Parma.

In January 2017 the Foundation moved to its new and multifunctional headquarters, the Music Production Center “Arturo Toscanini”, Inside the Eridania Park in Parma, a few meters from the Paganini Auditorium, home to their concerts. The Center boasts two large rehearsal rooms, five study rooms, a conference room, office and warehouse spaces, and also includes the Hypogeum Room, capable of seating 350 and directly connected to the Auditorium.

The Arturo Toscanini Philharmonic

The Arturo Toscanini Philharmonic was born in Parma in 2002 as a continuation of the historical and fruitful experience of the Arturo Toscanini Orchestra of Emilia-Romagna, flagship of the regional music scene; today it is considered one of the most important Italian symphony orchestras. Inspired by the values of the great Maestro Arturo Toscanini - rigor, talent, inspiration and commitment - the orchestra's activity is characterized by a continuous search for quality, from classical to contemporary repertoire, from "chamber" groups to great symphony.

They got on the podium of the Toscanini Philharmonic great directors world famous such as Vladimir Jurowski, Carlo Rizzi, Tugan Sokhiev, Juraj Valčuha, Tomas Netopil, Rinaldo Alessandrini, Michele Mariotti, Wayne Marshall, Tan Dun, Asher Fisch, Stéphane Denève, Pietari Inkinen, Roberto Abbado, John Axelrod and James Conlon and, again, Charles Dutoit, Eliahu Inbal, Lawrence Foster, Rafael Fruhbeck de Burgos, Michail Jurowski, Lorin Maazel, Kurt Masur, Zubin Mehta, Georges Prêtre, Mstislav Rostropovich, Jeffrey Tate and Yuri Temirkanov.

There are also numerous collaborations with very important soloists, including Salvatore Accardo, Stefano Bollani, Ian Bostridge, Mario Brunello, Mariella Devia, Placido Domingo, Paolo Fresu, Juan Diego Flórez, Sonia Ganassi, Natalia Gutman, Sharon Isbin, Steven Isserlis, Ton Koopman, Andrea Lucchesini, Ivo Pogorelich, Vladimir Spivakov, Uto Ughi, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Maxim Vengerov, Krystian Zimerman.

Acclaimed by audiences and critics in the major concert halls from all over the world in cities such as Washington, New York, Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Hamburg, Moscow, Lucerne, Budapest, Bucharest, Warsaw, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Tokyo, Beijing, the Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini was recently invited to tour in China, Switzerland, Germany and Austria.

Since 2012 the Philharmonic has also been an artistic partner of the prestigious Verdi Festival in Parma.

Since September 2020 he has held the position of Principal Director Enrico Onofri, succeeding the young and talented British director Alpesh Chauhan (September 2017 - May 2020). Current Principal Guest Director is Kristjan Järvi, previously the position was held by Kazushi Ono (2012 - 2015) and Francesco Lanzillotta (2015 - 2017).

The Philharmonic is based in Arturo Toscanini Music Production Center and performs mainly inPaganini Auditorium, designed by Renzo Piano.

Interacting with the city and the territory, the Orchestra also performs in schools, theaters and neighborhood centers of a very diverse community. Among the most recent initiatives, the project The Toscanini NEXT which is part of an already consolidated action to raise awareness and support the younger generations.

The Arturo Toscanini Orchestra of Emilia-Romagna

L'Arturo Toscanini Orchestra of Emilia-Romagna, born in Parma in 1975, is recognized by the Italian State as Concert-Orchestral Institution of national importance since 1977. From the 1982, with the consent of the heirs, it bears the name of the great director Arturo Toscanini. Today considered one of the most important Italian regional orchestras, the Orchestra dell'Emilia-Romagna, made up of 52 musicians, is engaged in a prestigious and uninterrupted lyric and symphonic activity, emblem of the musical culture of the territory in support of the opera activities of the theaters of tradition and festivals of the Region.

The OERAT is also dedicated to an intense and widespread activity of promotion and enhancement of the musical heritage among the new generations, through a continuous and innovative offer that ranges from listening opportunities to laboratory proposals.

Over the years she has made use of the musical direction of Piero Bellugi (1980/81), Gunter Neuhold (1982/85), Vladimir Delman (1986/88), Hubert Soudant (1988/91), Gianandrea Gavazzeni (1992/96), Patrick Fournillier (1998/2000).

Winner of two Abbiati Awards (in 1982 and 1986) has been the protagonist of international tours in the most prestigious European, North American and Asian cities and host of numerous radio and television broadcasts all over the world.

He has participated in opera productions directly set up by the Arturo Toscanini Foundation with artists such as Franco Zeffirelli, Pier Luigi Pizzi and Pier'Alli, many of which (Aida, Traviata, Rigoletto, Nabucco, I Vespri siciliani) published on DVD in the major national series and international brands such as Decca, Ricordi, Fonit Cetra, Ermitage and Eca, for which he has also made numerous recordings.
