Asolani meetings 2022
The small Venetian city loved by writers and artists returns to host the XLIV International Chamber Music Festival
To Asolo, "the city of a hundred horizonsAs he called it Carducci, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy where they lived Eleonora Duse is Gian Francesco Malipiero among others, from 30 August to 16 September 2022 come back on XLIV International Chamber Music Festival Asolani meetings. Promoted by Asolo Musica - Veneto Musica, with the artistic direction of Federico Pupo, the Festival aims to be a place of meeting and dialogue for some of the best Venetian, Italian and international musicians.

L'inaugural appointment of the festival, scheduled for Tuesday August 30, 2022 it will take place as it did last year at Duse Theater in the ancient castle of Caterina Cornaro, and is dedicated to centenary of the birth of Pier Paolo Pasolini. The two actors will pay homage to one of the most daring authors of the Italian twentieth century Anna Zago is Paolo Rizzi which together with the Lydian Sound Orchestra directed by Riccardo Brazzale with PigBand they will propose a sort of catalog of contemporary sins and sinners on Pasolini's texts in dialogue with one of the most famous Italian big bands. The national premiere of the show is directed by Piergiorgio Piccoli and produced by Theama Teatro.

With the next event the Asolani meetings return to the usual scenario of Church of S. Gottardo, fourteenth-century architecture full of atmosphere. Friday 2 September the violinist Federico Guglielmo, the cellist and composer Giovanni Sollima and the ensemble Tomato will propose a concert focused on the city of Venice, or better Al-Bunduqiyya, as it is still called in Arabic. Venice, a place of coexistence between different communities, a city of contamination, fertile ground for the flourishing of the arts ... a disappeared city, which still echoes, speaks and is read, just as the compositions, albeit remote, relive in the current time of execution and listening. In a sort of temporal short circuit, the evening combines a rich program dedicated to Antonio Vivaldi is Joseph Tartini, is fragments of Vivaldi's lost concerts, reworked by Sollima with personal style.

Tuesday September 6 follows another valuable program that remembers a double anniversary: À la recherche ..., concert dedicated to Marcel Proust 100 years after his disappearance, and to one of the writer's most beloved musicians, César Franck, of which the bicentenary of the birth. On stage still a great cellist, Johannes Moser, winner of the Tchaikovsky Prize and the Brahms Prize, at home on the major international stages, in duo with Gloria Campaner, pianist already appreciated by the Asolan public, an artist with a precocious success who after his debut at Carnegie Hall in New York in 2010 has toured all continents. 3 pieces for cello and piano of Nadia Boulanger, there Sonata No. 1 in E minor of Johannes Brahms, and the Sonata in A Major of César Franck.

A real musical jewel of infrequent listening is proposed by Incontri Asolani il September 9, with i Liebeslieder Walzer of Johannes Brahms: a unique series of miniatures for voices and piano based on ancient and recent love songs, including some by the Persian mystic Hāfiz. The four vocal parts will be played by Mariia Smirnova, soprano, Nutsa Zakaidze, alto, Alessandro Fiocchetti, tenor and Daviti Tkhelidze, bass - Soloists of the Academy of Lyric Art of Osimo - while the piano part for four hands will see side by side Michele Campanella is Monica Leone.

Rotate around again Proust and his favorite authors - Liszt, Franck, Debussy, Wagner and Schumann - the only solo concert scheduled by the festival this year: the September 13, for the recital … Du temps perdu A pianist will arrive in Asolo who by now, in France and elsewhere, has the prestige of a great institution: Michel Dalberto, currently professor at the Paris Conservatory.

Finally, the 44. edition of the Asolani meetings will end Friday September 16, when the new violin star comes on stage, Giuseppe Gibboni, the first Italian after 24 years to win the prestigious Paganini Prize and already very launched on the major national stages. In duo with the guitarist Carlotta Dalia, winner of the Paganini Guitar Festival & Competition 2019 First Prize, will propose songs by Niccolò Paganini, Astor Piazzolla is Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, offering a closing of the season in the name of energy and virtuosity.
