The winners of the 43rd Abbiati Prize, the prestigious recognition awarded by Italian music critics
Best show La Juive produced by the Teatro Regio of Turin, best voices the soprano Olga Bezsmertna and the countertenor Carlo Vistoli
The commission of the 43rd edition of the “Franco Abbiati” music critics award met on April 25th in Lucca to designate the winners.

Chaired by Angelo Foletto, the commission was made up of the Association's board of directors – Andrea Estero (president), Alessandro Cammarano, Carlo Fiore, Gianluigi Mattietti, Carla Moreni and Roberta Pedrotti – and seven critics elected by the ANCM members from among its members (Sandro Cappelletto, Gregorio Moppi, Cesare Orselli, Stefano Ragni, Francesco Arturo Saponaro, Susanna Franchi, Lorenzo Tozzi).

All together they decreed the winners, choosing from productions, concerts and initiatives held in Italian theaters and concert halls in 2023.

"The Abbiati Award – declares the president ofNational Association of Music Critics, Andrea Estero – for more than forty years it has had the function of narrating Italian musical life, bringing to the attention institutions and realities of great value, sometimes overlooked by the national press. This is the case of many winners in this edition. This year's awards also recognize the recovery and vigor of institutions that have experienced difficult moments in the more or less recent past, such as the Teatro Regio of Turin or the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, focusing on the leading role of its main director, Daniele Gatti, and who today can instead look to the future with renewed optimism."
