Francesca Dotto, talent and dedication

From the passion for the flute to opera singing

Francesca Dotto graduated in transverse flute at the “GB Martini” Conservatory in Bologna in 2006, with Enzo Caroli as her teacher. Subsequently, she undertook the study of opera singing under the guidance of the soprano Elisabetta Tandura and graduated with honors and honorable mention from the “A. Steffani” in Castelfranco Veneto in 2011. Her debut came in 2012 in the role of Musetta in Puccini's “La Bohème” at the Fenice in Venice, directed by Daniele Callegari, where she immediately demonstrated refined musicality and interpretative skills.

Her career has seen her perform roles such as Donizetti's Lucrezia Borgia at the Teatro Verdi in Padua and Violetta in “La Traviata” at the Verdi in Sassari, a role that brought her notoriety and established her as one of the most interesting interpreters of the international opera scene. Dotto has performed “La Traviata” on several occasions, including theaters such as the Fenice in Venice, the Petruzzelli in Bari, the Filarmonico in Verona, the San Carlo in Naples, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and the Opera di Roma in a production directed by Sofia Coppola with costumes by Valentino Garavani, as well as performances in Athens, Lima, Tokyo and Berlin.

Her vocal and interpretive qualities have allowed her to excel in a variety of roles, including Mozart's Donna Anna and Fiordiligi, Bellini's Norma, Anna Bolena and Elena in Donizetti's “Marino Faliero”, Luisa Miller and Leonora in “Il Trovatore ” by Verdi, as well as Mimì and Liù by Puccini. He has participated in productions in Italy and abroad in prestigious theaters and festivals such as the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Opera in Rome, the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, the Festival Verdi in Parma, the San Carlo in Naples, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Petruzzelli of Bari, the Teatro Lirico of Cagliari, the Teatro Comunale of Bologna, the Greek National Opera, the Festival Granda of Lima, the Wiener Staatsoper, the Semperoper Dresden, the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, the NCPA of Beijing, the Kӧmische Oper in Berlin, the Grand Théâtre in Geneva, the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, the Opéra Royal de Wallonie in Liège and the Opéra de Lausanne.

During her career, she was directed by masters of the caliber of R. Abbado, G. Bisanti, MW Chung, FI Ciampa, J. Conlon, D. Fasolis, R. Frizza, F. Lanzillotta, O. Lyniv, S. Montanari , P. Morandi, D. Oren, D. Renzetti, D. Rustioni, N. Santi, S. Scappucci, and OM Wellber. He has also collaborated with renowned directors such as H. Brockhaus, L. Dodin, S. Coppola, D. Livermore, D. Michieletto, F. Ozpetek, S. Poda, S. Ricci, G. Vick and Ai Weiwei.
