Musical Renaissance in Florence, charming and refined international festival one of a kind, focused entirely on the music of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, and set in the heart of the city that shaped the Renaissance in all its facets. Conceived and organized by the early music ensemble L'Homme Armé, the FloReMus festival offers a broad overview of the music of the Renaissance up to the threshold of the Baroque, bringing to the listener masterpieces and rarities performed in contemporary spaces, in a “resonance” between musical pieces and the architectural environments that welcome them, offering spectators an almost immersive experience in the atmosphere of the era. FloReMus 2024 includes 10 concerts – divided into formats Evening concerts, Concerts à boire, Monumentssound - 5 conversations, alaboratory and, new to this edition, 3 musical visits, with a program as always aimed at enthusiasts and those curious about this repertoire: an Italian and international audience that is gradually expanding, with a growing participation that testifies to the ever-increasing interest in this rich and fascinating musical segment. The festival has always stood out for its collaborations with musicians and specialized groups that are particularly appreciated on the international scene: this year the protagonists will be theEnsemble Solo Key coming from Spain (evening concert on September 10) as well as the accordion virtuoso Guillermo Perez who will perform together with the American soprano Anne Kathryn Olsen during the musical visit to the Laurentian Library (September 12), the Dutch organist but resident in Cologne Leon Berben which will play in the Basilica of SS. Annunziata (September 18) and of course, L'Homme Armé (September 5). FloReMus also pays particular attention to young ensembles emerging artists, selected last winter through a special call for proposals: they will be the ones to animate the concerts in the evening (during aperitif time, at 12 or 19) in various places in the city near clubs offer the opportunity for a convivial moment. The concerts entitled Sound monuments are dedicated to the wonderful Renaissance organs preserved in the Florentine churches: two events, on September 8th Giovanna Riboldi Onofrio Zeffirini's organ from the Badia Fiorentina (1558) will play, while on September 16th it will be Umberto Cerini to make that of Dionigi Romani of San Niccolò Oltrarno resonate. The Festival's multifaceted offering is completed by the conversations, informative meetings entrusted to scholars and specialists, designed to delve into various aspects linked to Renaissance culture, and the guided tours discovering the musical treasures hidden in emblematic places of Renaissance Florence.
