Roman Philharmonic Academy Presents

“ Season 2023-24 ”
It is entrusted to The Barocchists driven by Diego Fasolis, the concert that Thursday May 16 will close the 2023/24 chamber season ofAcademy Philharmonic Roman to the theater Argentina.

Appreciated all over the world and considered among the reference ensembles for the performance of the ancient repertoire on historical instruments, since 1998 I Barocchisti have been directed by Diego Fasolis, who combines stylistic rigor with versatility and virtuosity.

The program offers the cornerstones of the Baroque instrumental repertoire, ranging from Handel to Bach and Vivaldi, without forgetting composers less known today such as Salvatore Lanzetti and Francesco Maria Veracini.

Of Georg Friedrich Händel  we will listen to the Sonata in G major op. 5 no. 4 HWV 399, of Johann Sebastian Bach the Sonata for two violins and continuous bass in G major BWV 1039; the layout then includes the very famous Variations for 2 violins and continuation above “La follie” which close the op. 1 of Antonio Vivaldi, of which the Sonata in C major for mandolin and continuous bass RV 82 will also be presented.

These pieces are alternated with pages by authors who were very popular at the time and are less performed today, such as the violinist and composer Francis Maria Veracini (Florence 1690 – Pisa 1768) whose Sonata op. 2 no. 9 for violin and continuous bass from the Academic Sonatas, e Salvatore Lanzetti (Naples, circa 1710 – Turin, circa 1780) cellist and composer who made a great contribution to the innovation of the technique of his instrument, of which the Sonata V in B flat major for cello and harpsichord is on the programme.
