Sacilese bass among the most interesting of his generation, complete interpreter. “Formidable, superb, legend”: critics have always applauded him.

Ferruccio Furlanetto began his career more than 45 years ago, playing the roles of Philip II (Don Carlo) at the Salzburg Easter Festival and Figaro (Le Nozze di Figaro) at the Salzburg Summer Festival in 1986.

He has performed under conductors such as Herbert von Karajan, Carlo Maria Giulini, Sir Georg Solti, Leonard Bernstein, Valery Gergiev, Lorin Maazel, Claudio Abbado, Bernard Haitink, Daniel Barenboim, Georges Prêtre, James Levine, Semyon Bychkov, Ricardo Chailly , Daniele Gatti, Riccardo Muti, Mariss Jansons, Vladimir Jurowski, Tugan Sokhiev, Yannick Nezet-Seguin, Jesus Lopez Cobos, Philippe Jordan, Alain Altinoglu, Riccardo Chailly.

He is a regular guest of important institutions such as the Paris Opera, the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Vienna Staatsoper, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, as well as in Rome, Turin, Florence, Bologna, Palermo, Buenos Aires, Los Angeles, San Diego, Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin, Teatro Real Madrid, Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona, Opera Houses San Diego, Toronto, Chicago, San Francisco and Sydney . He also performs at the Baden Baden and Aix-en-Provence festivals, at the Paris Philharmonie, at the Vienna Musikverein, at the Tokyo Suntory Hall and at the Verona Arena.

He was the first Italian bass to sing the role of Boris Godunov at the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg, a role he also performed at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow. Ferruccio Furlanetto also performs in recitals (Rachmaninov, Moussorgski, Schubert…), and has also interpreted a program with pianist Natalia Sidorenko, starting from 2022 at La Scala in Milan.

He has made numerous recordings and videos and has received several awards, including the Verdi Medal and, recently, the San Francisco Opera Medal. He is Honorary Ambassador to the United Nations, Kammersänger and Honorary Member of the Vienna State Opera.
