Among the most solid presences on the international opera scene of his generation

Born in Asti, Erika Grimaldi has established herself as one of the most interesting voices on the international opera scene. After studying piano as a child, she began her vocal studies at sixteen, graduating in both disciplines from the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Turin (Singing, 2001; Piano, 2003). She subsequently furthered her studies with Gabriella Ravazzi, also participating in advanced training courses with Renato Bruson, Claudio Desderi, Ernesto Palacio, and Bernadette Manca di Nissa.

Her operatic debut took place in 1998, in the role of Serpina in The servant mistress by Pergolesi. From that moment on, he embarked on a steadily rising career, distinguishing himself in numerous competitions and rapidly expanding his repertoire. Between 2006 and 2015, he performed in several European theaters, until his debut at La Scala in Milan in January 2016, which marked a significant turning point in his artistic career.

A leading interpreter of Puccini and Verdi roles, she played the role of Mimì (La Boheme), Liu (Turandot), Desdemona (Othello), Leonora (The Troubadour), Aida, Amelia (A masked ball), Madeleine of Coigny (Andrea Chénier), Lady Macbeth, Tosca, and Manon Lescaut. She has sung at major international theaters and festivals: the Teatro Regio in Turin, the Teatro Comunale in Bologna, the Bolshoi in Moscow, the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, the Korea National Opera in Seoul, the Zurich Opera, the Teatro Municipal in Santiago de Chile, the Kennedy Center in Washington, Carnegie Hall in New York, the Edinburgh Festival, and the Enescu Festival in Bucharest, among others.

Alongside the opera, he has developed an intense concert activity, interpreting symphonic-choral works such as the Requiem by Verdi, the Requiem of Mozart, the Stabat mater by Rossini, the Requiem Mass of Penderecki, the Missa Solemnis Beethoven's Symphony No. 1 and Mahler's Fourth Symphony. He has collaborated with conductors such as Gianandrea Noseda, Claus Peter Flor, Nicola Luisotti, Michel Corboz, Daniel Oren, and Krzysztof Penderecki.

Recent and upcoming engagements include debuts in the roles of Abigaille (Nabucco), Giorgetta (The cloak), Suor Angelica and Madama Butterfly, alongside important returns to the theatres of Zurich, Bonn, Washington and New York.
