After being awarded "Best Newcomer" at the International Opera Awards in 2013, he won the prestigious award for Best Conductor of the Year

Daniele Rustioni is among the most important conductors of his generation both in the opera and symphonic fields. In his bright career he has conducted in the best theaters: Royal Opera House in London, Opera in Munich, Opera in Paris, Opernhaus in Zurich, La Scala, La Fenice in Venice, Metropolitan in New York ...

Daniele Rustioni, recently awarded the title of "Best Conductor" at the 2022 International Opera Awards, is one of the most eminent figures of his generation in the world of conducting, both in the operatic and symphonic repertoire.

Since September 2017, Rustioni has held the position of Chief Conductor of the Opéra National de Lyon, becoming Music Director as of the 2022/23 season. In parallel, he has led the Ulster Orchestra in the UK since 2019, taking up the role of Music Director in the 2022/23 season. In addition, he has been Principal Guest Conductor of the Munich National Opera since September 2020.

Rustioni also has a deep connection with the Orchestra della Toscana, engaged as Music Director from 2014 to 2020, currently holds the title of Conductor Emeritus.

At the beginning of his conducting activity he was Associate Conductor at the Jette Parker Young Artist Program of the Royal Opera House in London, Principal Guest Conductor of the Mikhailovsky Theater in St. Petersburg, and then Music Director of the Petruzzelli Theater in Bari.

Precocious musical talent, his activity as conductor was immediately recognized internationally and in 2013 he received the International Opera Award as the best novelty of the year. Since then he has conducted in the best international theaters, from the Teatro alla Scala, to the Munich Opera, from the Paris Opera, to the Zurich Opera House, from the Berlin Staatsoper, to the Royal Opera House-Covent Garden in London. In April 2017 he made his MET debut in Aida with great success and was immediately invited to return to Lincoln Center in all opera seasons.

Daniele Rustioni carries out an intense activity as an appreciated symphonic interpreter: he conducted the major Italian symphonic orchestras, the Orchestra of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia, the Filarmonica della Scala and the RAI National Symphony Orchestra while in the United Kingdom he conducted the BBC Philharmonic, BBC Symphony, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, London Philharmonic and Hallé Orchestra, as well as being a regular guest of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. In Germany he conducted the orchestras of Cologne, Stuttgart and Munich, in Austria he conducted the Vienna Radio Orchestra and the Klagenfurt Opera Orchestra while in Scandinavia he is a regular guest of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra. In Switzerland he inaugurated the 2019/20 symphonic season of the Philharmonia Zürich, in the Netherlands he made his symphonic debut at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam with the Netherlands Philharmonic and in the United States with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. In the 2021/22 season he made his debut on the podium of the prestigious Philadelphia Orchestra.

Daniele Rustioni is regularly present in Japan where he made his debut in 2014 in a production at the Nikikai Opera: he has conducted symphonic concerts with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, the Hyogo Performing Arts Center Symphony Orchestra, the Kyushu Symphony Orchestra and the Osaka Philharmonic. He is a regular guest of the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra seasons at Suntory Hall.

His discography includes the first recording of Bellini's Adelson and Salvini for the Opera Rara record company, which was received by unanimous critical acclaim, while Il Signor Bruschino of the Rossini Opera Festival is available on DVD for the Opus Arte label and Falstaff with the ensembles. of the Teatro Real in Madrid under the direction of Laurent Pelly. At the helm of the Orchestra della Toscana he also created for Sony Classical a cycle dedicated to the Italian symphonic repertoire of the first half of the 20th century with works by Ghedini, Petrassi and Casella which was received with great interest by international critics.
