Terni

The "Alessandro Casagrande" International Piano Competition was born in 1966 in Terni in memory of the musician and composer Alessandro Casagrande (Terni 1922 - Novara 1964) who died prematurely. Since 2002 it has been organized by Foundation of the same name with the support of Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities and of Umbria Region. The Casagrande Competition has been part of the prestigious since 1975 Fédération Mondiale des Concours Internationaux de Musique of Geneva, and is among the most important artistic and musical manifestations of Umbria.

Casagrande includes the names of Marta Dejanova (1970, Bulgaria), Boris Petrushansky (1975, Russia), Alexander Lonquich (1977, Germany), Ivo Pogorelich (1978, Yugoslavia), Dmitri Vorobief ( 1994, Russia), Yuka Imamine (1996, Japan), Alexei Nabioulin (1988 Russia), Giuseppe Andaloro (2000, Italy - 2nd Prize with 1st not awarded), Herbert Schuch (2004, Germany).

The 32. edition of the Alessandro Casagrande International Piano Competition will take place in Terni from11 to 17 September 2022, with online preselections from December 2021, and is open to pianists of all nationalities born after September 17, 1989. The inscriptions are carried out from 1 November to 15 December 2021 on the Competition website (www.concorsocasagrande.org).

The preselections will be based on the evaluation of the video materials and the curriculum of the competitors, while the face-to-face rehearsals will take place at the Teatro Secci in Terni from 11 to 17 September 2022, divided into four stages: First and Second Round, Semifinals and The final With the'Abruzzese Symphony Orchestra.

Artistic Director of the Competition and President of the Jury is Carlo Guaitoli, established concert performer and winner of prestigious prizes at the Casagrande, Busoni, Rubinstein of Tel Aviv, IMC of Japan competitions.

The Competition Jury will be made up of seven eminent musicians of various nationalities proposed by the Artistic Director and appointed by the Foundation's Management Board.

The preselection jury is composed of Carlo Guaitoli, from Filippo Gamba, winner of the Géza Anda Competition in Zurich, concert performer and teacher at the Musik-Akademie in Basel and Alberto Miodini, pianist of the prestigious Trio di Parma, an ensemble with which he established himself at the “Vittorio Gui” Competitions in Florence, ARD in Munich, Melbourne and Lyon.

€ 20.000 - 1st Class Diploma

Second Prize
€ 8.000 - 2nd classified diploma

Third Prize
€ 4.000 - III classified diploma

Special Awards

Adriana, Franco and Marina Casagrande Award for the best performance of a piece by A. Casagrande: € 2,000

Dario De Rosa Award for the best performance of L. van Beethoven's Sonata: € 1,500

Audience Award for the Final with Orchestra: € 1,500
