Created in 2017 by Canadian Maestro Louis Lortie and Maestro Paolo Bressan, conductor based in Berlin, the The association's main objective is the dissemination of classical music and the valorisation of the territorial wonders of Lake Como.
Since its founding year, Ars Aeterna has brought to life the LacMus Festival, an international music festival held annually, combining high-level musical performances with extensive cultural events, including the organization of exhibitions at the Lake Landscape Museum Como in Tremezzo.
The festival performances take place in places of exceptional beauty and historical and cultural value, such as Villa Carlotta, Villa del Balbianello, the Sanctuary of the Beata Vergine del Soccorso (UNESCO World Heritage Site), the Grand Hotel Tremezzo, the Comacina Island , Villa Melzi d'Eril and Castello Durini, transforming the festival into a journey through the music and landscape of Lake Como.
Ars Aeterna makes use of the contribution of both Italian and foreign members for the organization of the festival and the academies dedicated to young musicians. The collaboration with the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel of Waterloo is significant, which saw the participation of the institute's students in various concerts in past editions of the festival.
Based in Lenno, in the Municipality of Tremezzina, the association enjoys the strong support of the Municipal Administration of Tremezzina and international partners such as the American Friends of LacMus Festival Association in California, demonstrating the wide recognition and appreciation for its contribution to culture and classical music.
