Amiata Piano Festival 2023 – XVIII edition
Music is back among the vineyards and olive trees of an uncontaminated landscape, fourteen appointments on the bill

In the green quiet of the Tuscan countryside, among olive trees and vineyards, theAmiata Piano Festival: come to XVIII edition, It will take place from 29 June to 27 August 2023, preceded by apreview the May, 20th and sealed by the traditional Christmas concert the December 9. Concert venue is the futuristic Forums Bertarelli Foundation of Poggi del Sasso (Grosseto), extraordinary architecture with an organic form perfectly integrated into the landscape of the Maremma hills.

Here, on the slopes of the ancient volcano, the sounds and silences of nature blend with the musical offerings never taken for granted by the couple of art and life Maurizio Baglini is Silvia Church, founders and backbone of the Amiata Piano Festival, created thanks to the partnership with the Bertarelli Foundation.

While the pioneering experience of the Festival is fast approaching its twentieth anniversary, Baglini and Church they will celebrate another important milestone, theirs 300th duo concert, placed at the center of the 2023 bill. And this year too the Monte Amiata countryside will become a sound panorama with a multiplicity of proposals, the Beethoven Grand Tour on project by Louis Lortie, the Strauss Sonata commissioned by Silvia Church in new version with orchestra, the 'extravagant' popsongs of Rome Sinfonietta, the sound incursions of the Mancuso Brothers, the tribute of Michele Placido to Schubert, to name just a few.

news ofAmiata Piano Festival 2023 will be the closest intertwining with the local excellence: the concerts will in fact be combined with a tasting opportunities of wines and local gastronomic products.

As usual, the Festival is divided into three weekends, named respectively Baccus (June 29 – July 2), Euterpe (July 27 – 30) e Dionisus (24 – 27 August), framed this year by a preview event in May and by the Christmas concert in December.

The eighteenth edition of theAmiata Piano Festival kicks off on Saturday May 20, 2023 with the preview concert Joy, beautiful divine spark which opens the Beethoven Grand Tour, a project by the master of international pianism Louis Lortie, entrusted to his friend and exceptional former student Maurizio Baglini. Starting from Beethoven's Ninth Symphony in Liszt's transcription, the 'Grand Tour' will then continue with four-hand transcriptions of the First and Sixth Symphony, proposed by Alexander Kashpurin is Luigi Carrock the July 28, and with those of the second and seventh, always for four hands with Axel Trolese is Illia Ovcharenko the August 26.

The June 29, at the opening of Bacchus weekend, you will hear an authentic gem, the result of the tireless work that Silvia Chiesa dedicates to expanding the cello repertoire, including searches for forgotten texts, new compositions and unexpected transcriptions. Scheduled the new orchestrated version of the Sonata in F major op. 6 of Richard Strauss, commissioned by the cellist to the conductor John Veneri. Next to Silvia Chiesa soloist on cello, the young Cupiditas Orchestra directed by Peter Veneri, for the second performance of the work premiered last year in Milan with the same cast.

The program continues on June 30th with Michele Placido that between words and music will give voice to the text of the Neapolitan musicologist and popularizer Stefano Valanzuolo The double. Public and Private life of Franz Schubert, musician, a work that contrasts the artistic immensity and the fragility of the Austrian composer's life.

The July 1st follows the estimated Klimt Quartet with the rare transcript ofHeroic by Beethoven, by Ferdinand Ries, and a quartet by Richard Strauss; to close the program on Sunday 2nd of July, the eclectics Mancuso Brothers, masters in combining folk, contemporary pop and film music.

The next one weekend Euterpe opens the July 27 with a program entirely dedicated to Mendelssohn; on stage a ensembles occasion formed by great musicians and friends, led by Silvia Chiesa is Maurizio Baglini in the best spirit of a chamber circle.

The July 28 it will be the turn of the aforementioned second stage of the Beethoven Grand Tour, while the July 29, at the center of the Amiata Festival 2023, 300 times Baglini & Chiesa, the concert that celebrates the important milestone of the 300th duo concert with a surprise programme.

The July 30, popsongs with the Rome Sinfonietta, a transversal layout where the Neapolitan song will meet the most touching arias of the opera, from the Baroque to the great 19th century, but also the madness of the Taranta or the refinement of Gershwin.

The August 24, first date of weekend Dionisus, is dedicated to Mozart: protagonists Maurizio Baglini on the piano e the Vittorio Calamani Orchestra, the only Italian philharmonic under 35, born in 2019 in Orvieto.

The 25 August it's the turn of Stradivarius Trio which will propose aVery romantic Tchaikovsky', while the 26 will close the Beethoven Grand Tour;

the August 27 there will be the Tribute to Leonard Bernstein with an American Songbook entrusted to Gabriele Coen Jazz Quintet.

Finally, the December 9 L'Amiata Piano Festival 2023 will greet the audience with the Concert by Christmas which will bring to the stage thePhilharmonic Orchestra of the Teatro Comunale of Bologna, with music by Wagner is Dvořák, crowning an itinerary of music and conviviality, art and nature on the slopes of Amiata.
