Alessandro Marangoni is the artistic director of the Almo Collegio Borromeo in Pavia, and is the first Italian musician to also perform in the virtual world of Second Life with over one hundred concerts.

Winner of the prestigious Abbiati Award of Italian critics in 2019, Alessandro Marangoni has established himself on the international scene thanks to a significant concert and recording activity as a soloist, also collaborating with artists such as Mario Ancillotti, Marco Berrini, Giuseppina Bridelli, Aldo Ceccato, Enrico Dindo, Laura Giordano, Alessandro Luciano, Lilly Jorstad, Francesco Manara, Massimo Quarta, Paola Pitagora, Bruno Taddia, Milena Vukotic, Maddalena Crippa, Claudia Koll, the Quartetto di Fiesole and the Nuovo Quartetto Italiano.

Born in 1979, he graduated in piano with honors and mention with Marco Vincenzi at the Conservatory of Alessandria and perfected with Maria Tipo at the Fiesole School of Music.

At the same time he graduated in Philosophy at the University of Pavia (with a thesis in the philosophy of music), a student of the Almo Collegio Borromeo.

He made his debut in December 2007 with a recital at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, in a tribute to Victor de Sabata on the 40th anniversary of his death, together with Daniel Barenboim.

He has played in major theaters across Europe, China, the United States and Australia, recording for major broadcasters such as RAI, BBC, Radio Nacional de Espana and SBS Australia.

He established an artistic partnership with the actress Valentina Cortese with whom he held a show in Milan directed by Filippo Crivelli and inaugurated the Teatro Massimo in Cagliari. With Quirino Principe he founded the duo “Alessandro Quirini and Quirino Alessandri”, creating monographic shows on Rossini, Chopin and other great authors.

He is the first Italian musician to also perform in the virtual world of Second Life, performing more than one hundred concerts.

With the Nuovo Contrappunto Ensemble he performed the Concerto n. 4 by Beethoven in the chamber version by the same author.

For the first time in the discography, Marangoni has recorded the complete complete of Rossini's Peccati di vecchiaia (13 CDs), rediscovering 20 unreleased tracks. He has also recorded the complete of Clementi's Gradus ad parnassum, of the Concerts for piano and orchestra of Castelnuovo-Tedesco with the Malmö Symphony Orchestra (with which he obtained the nomination for the ICMA), the integral for cello and piano of the author in duo with Enrico Dindo and Liszt's Via Crucis (with Ars Cantica Choir), all for Naxos. Alessandro Marangoni has also rediscovered the piano production of Victor de Sabata, which he recorded for La Bottega Discantica, recording a disc dedicated to Nino Rota and one to Bohuslav Martinu for Stradivarius. He collaborates with the jazz player and composer Sandro Cerino, with whom he recorded the CD (s) Confini for Egea. Several international music magazines, such as Ritmo and Musica, have dedicated a cover to him and lately Gramophone has chosen his interpretations as a reference point for Rossini. He collaborates as a reviewer with Edizioni Curci and Leduc and as conductor of “Lessons of Music” on Rai Radio3. He won the "Amici di Milano" International Prize for Music. Together with the director Pierpaolo Venier he is the creator of the Chromoconcerto®.

He is the artistic director of the Almo Collegio Borromeo di Pavia and Forte Fortissimo TV, an innovative webtv committed to disseminating the "Music against child labor" campaign conceived by Claudio Abbado with the International Labor Organization (UN), of which Alessandro Marangoni is an international testimonial.

He teaches at the Novara Conservatory and holds master classes in Europe, South America and China.
