At the third Classic Piano in Dubai, young talents compete for a prize pool of €250,000
The Classic Piano International Competition confirms itself as a catalyst in the panorama of international classical music
This year, the competition featured nine exceptionally talented finalists, selected through the innovative “14 Ways to Dubai“, which collected the best five of fourteen competitions held around the world. In the end, it was Andrey Gugnin who took first place, taking home a prize of €100,000 and the promise of a ten-stop tour with an additional €50,000 in compensation.

During the competition, participants had to demonstrate their skill through two solo performances and two accompanied by the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Sergey Smbatyan. The repertoire, carefully selected to test all facets of piano skills, included pieces by classical and contemporary composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, Prokofiev, Rachmaninoff and Alexey Shor.

In addition to Gugnin, other contestants received significant sums of money, with prizes of €50,000 and €25,000 awarded to second and third place respectively.

Despite the presence of Italian jurors, the podium of the Classic Piano International Competition remains inaccessible for Italian pianists.

The Classic Piano International Competition in Dubai has become a crossroads of piano talent from all over the world. With a considerable prize pool and an international jury that includes Italian members such as Giuliano Mazzoccante, Massimiliano Caldi, and Epifanio Comis, it is surprising to note that no Italian has ever reached the podium in three consecutive editions of the competition.
