"Ballet Season 2021 - 2022"
The Nutcracker, Christmas title par excellence, inaugurates the December 19 there Ballet season 2021/22 of the Rome Opera House, and will be staged throughout the festive period with 12 performances up to January 2, including 24 and 31 December.

In the role of the protagonist they alternate Susanna Salvi, the new étoile of the Opera di Roma nominated last September in Notre-Dame de Paris, and the Argentine guest star Ana Sophia Scheller.

The Nutcracker, to music by Tchaikovsky entrusted to the wand of Nir Kabaretti driving theOrchestra of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, returns to Costanzi in the contemporary choreographic reinterpretation of Giuliano Peparini, created in 2015 expressly for the Capitoline Opera Ballet directed by Eleonora Abbagnato. On the bill for three consecutive seasons, this highly successful show was built by Peparini to appeal to all generations, but especially to teenagers.

In the ballet in two acts, based on the story of ETA Hoffmann, the Roman choreographer and director brings his vision of society to the stage and gives us a daydream, a metaphor of reality made up of special effects and extraordinary videos, plays of light and magical illusions created by a team of excellent professionals: Lucia D'Angelo is Cristina Querzola (scenes), Frédéric Olivier (costumes), Edmondo Angelelli (video), Jean-Michel Désiré (lights).

The protagonist of the premiere on December 19 in the role of Marie will be l'etoile Susanna Salvi, also staged on 21, 22 (8pm), 24, 30 (8pm) December and 2 January, with the two first dancers at his side Claudio Cocino (Drosselmeyer) e Michele Satriano (Grandson of Drosselmeyer).

The guest star Ana Sophia Scheller, of Argentine origin but with an international career that has brought her from America to Europe, will be the protagonist in the reruns of 23, 29 and 31 December, with Alessio Rezza (Drosselmeyer) e Claudio Cocino (Grandson of Drosselmeyer).

They will also be on stage Sara Them (22 hours 15, 28) e Flavia Stocchi (30 hours 15) in the role of Marie, Giuseppe Schiavone (28 and 30 hours 15) e Valerio Marisca (10pm 3pm) in Drosselmeyer, Simone Agrò (30 at 15.00) e Alessio Rezza (22 hours 15, 28) in the part of the Grandson. The students of the School of Dance of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, directed by Laura Comi, participate in the production.
