2022 Opera and Ballet Season
All the magic of the holidays shines on the tips of the dance at Teatro Regio of Turin, with the Christmas ballet par excellence, The Nutcracker of Tchaikovsky: on stage from 16 to 23 December 2022 for ten performances, the Russian composer's masterpiece will be presented by Tbilis Opera Balleti directed by Nina Ananiashvili, which – together with Alexey Fadeechev – also signs the choreography. He will go up on the podium Papuna Ghvaberidze, driving theRegio Children's Choir and Orchestra, the latter instructed by Claudio Fenoglio.

Exactly 130 years after its debut, which took place at the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg on 18 December 1892, The Nutcracker is one of the best known and most performed ballets in the world, a classic of the Christmas holidays. Commissioned by the director of the Imperial Russian Theaters and born with the fundamental contribution of the choreographer Marius Petipa (and then say Lev Ivanov), The Nutcracker boasts one of the most elegant and refined scores of Tchaikovsky, characterized by an extraordinary melodic richness and by transparencies and fairy timbres, to which the insertion of the new instrument that the composer had seen in Paris, the celesta, makes a particular contribution.

On the stage of the Regio, the Tbilisi Ballet presents its own version of the well-known story, based on the tale Nutcracker and the Mouse King of AGE. Hoffmann in the French adaptation of Alexandre Dumas father: in fact, the Georgian company Tbilisi Ballet sets the action right in Tbilisi, at the house of the Dadiani family and in Mtatsminda Park. Barbaré and Levan's children friends dance around the magic tree. After the battle between the Mouse King and the Nutcracker Prince, in the land of sweets, Spanish, Chinese, French, Indian and Russian dolls join the party, and the snowflakes dance their wonderful waltz, shining all the grace and light in music that covers this timeless fairy tale.
