The acclaimed French conductor, composer and pianist Frédéric Chaslin (Paris, 1963) returns to the podium of theOrchestra and Chorus of the Lyric Theater of Cagliari after the recent successes of the 2021 Easter Concert and the 2020 End of Year Concert, while it is making its debut in Cagliari Alessio Pizzech (Livorno, 1972), a director already established both in prose and in opera, who signs a lively and cheerful staging also in the visual aspect.

The singing company counts in the main roles Hasmik Torosyan / Laura Esposito (Marie), Marco Ciaponi / Valerio Borgioni (Tonio), Anastasia Boldyreva / Annunziata Vestri (La Marquise de Berkenfield), Bruno Taddìa / Jan Antem (Sulpice), and again Giuseppina Piunti (The Duchesse de Krakenthorp), Claudio Levantino / Francesco Palmieri (Hortensius) e Simeone Latini (A Notaire), Nicola Ebau (A Corporal), Oscar Piras / Giampiero Boi (A paysan).

The choirmaster is Giovanni Andreoli.

The fille du régiment, written during the stay in Paris of Gaetano Donizetti (Bergamo 1797-1848), made its debut on 11 February 1840 conducted by the composer himself, at the Opéra-Comique in Paris, where it was repeated 55 times. Theatrical comedy in two acts among the most appreciated and known by the composer from Bergamo, located halfway between the opera-comique and the comic opera, makes use of the libretto by Jean-François-Alfred Bayard is Jules Henri Vernoy de Saint-Georges (the same librettist as Giselle). It is a terrifying test for the tenor for the famous 9 high C of his aria (Ah mes ami) which, together with military marches, lyrical and bucolic scenes, conquer the public by involving them in the delightful love story, contrasted by social conventions, of Marie and Tonio, set in Tyrol in 1805 in the middle of the Napoleonic era.
