In Varese the XXI Concert Season of the University of Insubria
“A new beginning” is the title of the 2021 - 22 review, Roberto Cappello among the guests on the bill

With a title that underlines the message of optimism and confidence of the restart, the Concert season of the University of Insubria - whose twentieth anniversary fell in the period of the pandemic - now opens the third decade of activity, finally with the public in attendance.

The Season 2021 - 22 'A new beginning'  comprehends nine dates and it takes place from 4 November '21 to 10 June '22' in the'Great Hall of the headquarters in Via Ravasi a Varese. The concerts, scheduled at 18 hours, I am ad free entry (with the obligation of a Green Pass) and are aimed not only at students and teachers, but they are open to all the public.

Among the appointments on the bill, the pianorécital by Roberto Cappello scheduled for March 18.

Artistic director of the Season is the teacher Corrado Greco, also creator of the review started in 2001, which today has the rector of the university among its first admirers Angelo Tagliabue and the general manager Marco Cavallotti.

"The XXI concert season of Insubria"- comments Corrado Greco -"it is an important message of optimism and trust addressed to those who for many months have suffered the deprivation of meeting and shared listening, which no remote transmission can replace, even if the experience of direct streaming of the pandemic period was very positive both for the quality and for the response of the public. As usual, the billboard of this 'New beginning' combines different musical and organic genres, in order to intercept the curiosity and interest of our loyal public and new visitors to our concerts. I am proud of this project which, despite the impact of the pandemic, has never interrupted its mission. "

The review opens on Thursday November 4th With the'Ensemble seicentonovecento, one of the most original Italian vocal-instrumental groups on the international scene, currently resident ensemble at Villa Lante al Gianicolo in Rome. With more than 70 recordings to its credit, the group proposes the captivating project "Farinelli's myth, history and dream”, Dedicated to the legendary figure of the emasculated virtuoso singer who was also a viola d'amore player, composer, collector and refined man of culture. The concert will be embellished by the presence of the celebrated soprano Antonio Giovannini.

"Voices of love" is the title of the original Friday music and theater show November 19. Seven melologues by the composer Claudio Rastelli (for reciting voice and piano) are alternated with piano pieces - by Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Wagner, Debussy, Šostakovič - performed by the pianist Federico Nicoletta and relating to the texts recited by the actress Diana Höbel, who also edited the dramaturgy.

Friday December 17 is on stage "Ancient roots and new paths" with the Trio Fassetta: the sensitive and virtuoso accordionist Gianni Fassetta will perform together with his gifted daughters: Heather on the violin and Elisa on the cello. The program begins with some transcriptions of classical pieces (Albinoni, Mozart) and then offers an interesting journey around Argentine tango, as outlined by Albeniz, transfigured by Stravinsky, and reinterpreted in a modern key by Astor Piazzolla and the Italian Paolo Pessina.

Friday January 21st we return to great chamber music with theEnjoy Duo formed by the violinist Daniela Carabellese and the pianist Pietro Laera, which proposes "Romantic passions ": on the program the most famous page of the nineteenth century for this formation, the Sonata by César Franck (in the bicentenary of his birth). Following the Suite Populaire Espagnole by De Falla (in the revision by Paul Kochanski) and two famous pages by Piazzolla.

Another original chamber concert is scheduled for theFebruary 11th: entitled "... Of farewells and distances ...”Is a sentimental journey into vocal and instrumental music between the 19th and 20th centuries with the Ovidius trio, composed by the soprano Jolanta Stanelyte, by the saxophonist Gaetano Di Bacchus and the pianist Guido Galterio. Between chamber romances, melodies and songs inspired by the themes of love and passion, a program of verses and melodies that evoke feelings and memories.

The March 18 it's the turn of an extraordinary virtuoso on the piano, Roberto Hat: has more than 2000 concerts all over the world, winner of the prestigious Busoni Award of Bolzano, is a regular guest of the major Italian concert institutions (Teatro alla Scala, Santa Cecilia) and abroad. With the program "Piano virtuosity”, Roberto Cappello offers a journey through colors and musical images with famous Spanish pages (the Suite española by Albeniz) and French (La Valse by Ravel) up to Rhapsody in Blue, Georges Gershwin's acrobatic masterpiece.

Astor Piazzolla - on 21 March 2021 he would have turned 100 - is the protagonist of the concert ofApril 8 proposed of Libertango Quartet, particular training with related instruments in pairs: accordion and bandoneon, cello and double bass. The members of the group (two Germans and two Finns) are classical musicians with a strong passion for Tango. For many years they have been playing successfully as soloists on European stages. Their program "Tribute to Piazzolla”Is an excellent demonstration of the innumerable nuances and variations of the Argentine Tango Nuevo.

"Elegance made music”Is the title of the concert by May 13, with the flutist Luisa Sello, the cellist Claude Hauri, at the piano Corrado Greek. Four works from different eras (by Haydn, Kuhlau, Hummel and Martinu) that highlight the dialogue between instruments that have gradually become protagonists over the centuries. They share the elegant phrasing in the compositional style and the finely chiseled sound research on the identity of the individuals.

The concert season ends on June 10 with "The great Russian and Hungarian musical tradition”, Piano concerto for four hands with Sandra Landini is Francesca Amato. The duo performs the author's transcriptions of pages of Tchaikovsky (Sleeping Beauty) by Rachmaninov, together with Donizetti and Mozart reinterpreted by Liszt, in a kaleidoscope of colors that compares two great composers who were also extraordinary pianists .
