Teatro Regio Torino Presents

"Royal Opera Festival"
The Turin Theater launches the Regio Opera Festival, “A Difesa della Cultura”, which from June 15th to September 22nd offers a very rich program of operas and concerts. In the spectacular courtyard of Palazzo Arsenale, recently restored (and seat of the Command for Training and Application School of the Army), a 500 square meter stage is set up for 1000 spectators.

The highlight is the Midsummer Concert (30 July), which will see for the first time on the podium of the Regio Juraj Valčuha, currently Music Director of the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, and First Guest Conductor of the Konzerthausorchester in Berlin.

The Slovak Maestro will direct a program of sure involvement, entirely dedicated to Russian music. To the rhythm of dance they will listen to each other The summer of Glazunov (from the ballet Le Stagioni), la Suite n. 2 from Spartacus of Chačaturjan, the Dances Polovesian of Borodin (from the opera The Prince Igor), and the famous Night on the Mt. Bald of Musorgsky.

With the Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro Regio, Chorus Master Andrea Secchi

The Orchestra of the Teatro Regio di Torino is the heir to the complex founded at the end of the nineteenth century by Arturo Toscanini, under whose direction numerous concerts and many historical opera productions were performed, including the world premieres of Manon Lescaut and La bohème di Puccini.
