Chigiana Music Academy Presents

"Different Festival"
A truly special event is scheduled for July 16 in Siena: the Campo, one of the most extraordinary squares in the world, will welcome the Orchestra of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia for the concert conducted by Antonio Pappano, solo violin Ilya Gringolts.

A symbolic place of Siena, the square transfuses the Genius loci in the materiality of stone, and with the perfect harmony of the forms manifests the aspiration to beauty - documented in the famous Sienese Statutes since the thirteenth century - as the cornerstone of every civil life.

With its shell shape, sloping down towards the scenographic backdrop of the Palazzo Pubblico, it is therefore a place dedicated to hosting a concert that also has a significant symbolic value, so much so that the Accademia Chigiana and the Municipality of Siena, co-producers of the event, have chosen to dedicate it to Italy.

The Santa Cecilia Orchestra will return to perform in Siena after more than 10 years, with an overwhelming and exciting program dedicated to the great repertoire of the 19th century: the Overture from Verdi's “Nabucco”, the Symphony no. 7 by Beethoven and the famous Concerto for violin and orchestra by Tchaikovsky, entrusted to the interpretation of one of the greatest virtuosos of today, the Russian violinist Ilya Gringolts.

“Iconic pieces, for an exciting program, based on rhythm and vital energy, an energy that we really need after this long silence” added Pappano.

“Siena and the Chigiana for Italy”, an unmissable event.

Admission is free, with reservations required and subject to availability.
