Donizetti Christmas Day returns to Bergamo, a day of events to say goodbye to the Festival, waiting for Christmas
On the final day of the Donizetti Opera Festival many stages spread out for a myriad of appointments, including concerts, presentations and guided tours
Sunday December 4th, last day of Donizetti Opera Festival 2022, Bergamo come back to life with a whole day of widespread concerts, performances, presentations, guided tours at the Theater, explorations of Donizetti's places in the city aboard the Tuk Tuk: it's the Donizetti Christmas Day, Christmas initiative Donizetti Theater Foundation made in collaboration with Fair real estate.

The Donizetti Theater and the Piacenza Center -the 'living room of Bergamo' architectural complex in the heart of the lower city, designed by Marcello Piacentini in the early 1900s – after the recent refurbishment works on the very central Sentierone and in Piazza Dante they have reaffirmed their central role in Bergamo life, and on this occasion they will be united throughout the day under the banner of Donizetti's music.

In reduced Gavazzeni of the Donizetti Theater they will follow three dates unmissable. It starts at 10 am with the volume presentation of Maurice Merisio (musicologist of the scientific section of the festival), The Philharmonic Union of Bergamo: a history, published by the Donizetti Theater Foundation, which they will talk about Livio Aragon, Edoardo Cavalli, Paolo Fabbri is Candida Mantica. Following concert of the ensemble Open music dedicated to pages of Giovanni Simone Mayr, founder of the Philharmonic Union.

At hours 12 Sara introduced the CD Mr Cajetan (Pentatone), recorded at the Donizetti Theater by the tenor Javier Camarena With the'orchestra The originals directed by Riccardo Frizza; released on the occasion of the Festival, the recording garnering great acclaim from international critics. With the artists they will talk about it Livio Aragon is Alberto Mattioli.

At 3.15 pm there will be the opportunity to participate in a special edition of Intercom Gaetano Live, the lounge of comments with Diego Passoni, Cristina Bugatty is Alberto Mattiolidedicated to the work Chiara and Serafina (it is essential to book a free seat on gaetanodonizetti.org).

Still worth noting the original concert by Stefano Rattini, titular organist of the Cathedral of Trento, proposed in collaboration with the International Organ Festival "Città di Bergamo": scheduled at 16.30 in Church of San Bartolomeo, the concert is dedicated to organ improvisations on pieces by Donizetti that they will be chosen by the public. In fact, the spectators present will be asked to vote for five Donizetti themes from a selection of 30 prepared by the Festival, and Stefano Rattini will interpret them in a musical improvisation performance.

Guided visits to the Theater and in the city are also scheduled:

From 10 it will be possible to enter at Donizetti Theater with a series of free guided tours (reservation recommended on donizetti.org) Donizetti Welcome, conducted by volunteer high school students who have completed their PCTO in the Foundation.

From 12 to 17 you can explore for free”Bergamo City of Donizetti” aboard the Eco-sustainable Tuk Tuks, a project promoted by the Bergamo Tourist Consortium with Visit Bergamo as a partner: a walk to the Upper Town and back accompanied by a specialized guide who will illustrate the places related to the musician such as his birthplace, the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, the Teatro Sociale, etc. (about 50 minutes).

Numerous other musical moments will animate the Quadriportico throughout the day, with themed performances by the Achrome Ensemble, Estudiantina Ensemble, Open Music Ensemble, FantaBrass Quartet, Tomaz'o voice and accordion duo, Ferruccio Filipazzi and Piccolo Canto, Ichos percussion, Podera Mezzanotti Duo; other appointments are organized in collaboration with the "Gaetano Donizetti" Conservatory, which will be present with a series of ensembles formed by its own students.

In the end, at 20.30 to the Boccaleone Film Theater, Evergreen yew, a show inspired by Donizetti's opera Torquato Tasso, created by Lussana High School, from the Secco Suardo High School and fromCaniana Institute, an initiative that is part of the collaborations of Donizetti Educational.
